The Salem Chapter of NAWIC (National Association of Women In Construction) recently held its award dinner.  Robin Guzman of AG Sadowski Company was recognized as the chapter’s Future Leader of the Year for 2016.  This award recognizes members who are extremely active in their first two years of membership.  Robin has been on the Chapter’s Board of Directors and is always willing to lend a hand.

Dawn Killough from Rich Duncan Construction was recognized as the 2016 WIC (Woman In Construction) of the Year.  She has been very active in the chapter’s activities since she joined three years ago.  She has served as chapter Treasurer and Membership Chairman for the past two years, been active with Construction Career Day for the past three years, and manages the chapter’s web site.

John Wood of Woodlot Nursery has always been supportive of the chapter and their activities.  He was recognized as Boss of the Year for his continued participation in events and financial support.

The speakers at this year’s Appreciation Night Dinner were Senator Kim Thatcher and Representative Bill Post.  They spoke about the need to participate in our country’s election process and some of the upcoming issues that will be affecting businesses in the state.

NAWIC is an organization of women working in or supporting the construction industry.  Its purpose is to enhance the success of women in construction through professional development, networking, mentoring, and community involvement.  The Salem Chapter sponsors Willamette Valley Construction Career Day each year and raises funds for scholarships for students interested in education in design, engineering, or other construction-related fields.  For more information, including meeting dates, visit the chapter web site at
