Construction Career Day!
This is an annual event that the Salem NAWIC Chapter has organized and hosted since 2003.
During the event, over 600 high school students from all around Oregon are given the opportunity to receive hands-on exposure to a myriad of potential career paths in the construction industry.
This event is divided into three informational areas:
-Heavy Equipment—students are able to operate heavy equipment.
-Hands-On Activities—students can participate in various hands-on activities, including framing, carpentry, glass cutting, masonry, and many others.
-Informational—local educational programs and industry associations hand out information about their programs and services to youth that might be interested in the industry.
The purpose of the event is to educate students about the range of career options available in the construction industry. This not only benefits students, in that they are exposed to alternative career paths that they might not otherwise learn about in the classroom, but this event also benefits the local construction industry, in recruiting a future workforce. Additionally, students get the opportunity to apply mathematical principles and other subjects that they are learning in the classroom.
The Salem NAWIC Chapter is pleased and honored to continue bringing this event to the community, and is extremely grateful for the gracious support and involvement of the local businesses and associations that make it all possible. We could not do it without them!
The 2020 event will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, Jackman-Long Building.
If you are interested in being an exhibitor, there is no charge for being an exhibitor, you can complete the Exhibitor Registration Form 2020 or you can register online at: XYZ
